Your Impact

The Team Lead will play a key role in safely managing the day-to-day operations of Newmont's Con Mine legacy site in Yellowknife, NT, ensuring environmental compliance, operational excellence, and strong community relationships. As the on-site leader, you’ll guide teams, contractors, and consultants to deliver sustainable outcomes that align with Newmont’s values and commitment to responsible resource management.

As Part of Our Team You Will:
  • Lead and supervise on-site activities, ensuring safety, environmental, and regulatory standards are met.
  • Oversee contractors and consultants to deliver both routine and one-off site projects.
  • Support budgeting, planning, and scheduling for site operations and maintenance.
  • Serve as a point of contact for local communities, regulators, and other partners.
  • Promote a positive, safety-first culture and continuous improvement in site operations.
  • Serve as the primary operator of the Site Water Treatment Plant.
  • Perform regular maintenance of site infrastructure and Water treatment equipment.
  • Take a proactive approach to site maintenance planning, indentifying areas of required work and assigning to the appropriate business partners.
  • Ensuring site compliance with regulatory commitments.
  • Support the development and implementation of systems, procedures and policies.
Prerequisites for Your Success in This Role:
  • Able to work onsite in Yellowknife
  • Relevant trade certification is an asset
  • Degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or related field is an asset
  • 5+ years of experience in Mining operations, mine closure, infrastrucutre management, or water treatment.
  • 2+ of Supervisory experience.
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations, safety practices, and water treatment technologies.
  • Proven leadership experience managing site teams, contractors, and budgets.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Your Work Environment:
  • This position is based out of Newmont's legacy Con Mine site, in Yellowknife, NT.
  • Work involves outdoor field operations, interaction with local communities and regulatory bodies, and leading a site-based team focused on safety, compliance, care and maintenance, site stewardship.
  • The role is offered with a 5x2 (Monday-Friday) schedule and will involve occasional on-call work.

The Environment & Reclamation team is now recruiting for the position of Team Lead, Legacy Sites with a competitive base salary range of $103,300 - $137,700/yr, with an additional 15% Short-Term Incentive. The offered base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies, with consideration to internal equity.
