Your Impact

As a Surveyor at Newmont Red Chris Mine, you will play a vital role in supporting safe, efficient mining operations by providing accurate survey data for planning, drilling, blasting, and development activities. Your work ensures that mining operations proceed with precision, supporting safety, productivity, and continuous improvement across site activities.

As Part of Our Team, You Will
  • Demonstrate absolute commitment and leadership in providing a safe working environment.
  • Contribute towards improving working operations and safety.
  • Use instruments to take readings to determine specified locations.
  • Conduct surveys to obtain data used in planning mining operations.
  • Draft maps, drawings, and create a database of survey data, including development layouts, production drill mark-ups, and miscellaneous layouts.
  • Update relevant maps, drawings, and databases with amended information.
  • Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted in the field, and redesign as necessary.
  • Maintain daily markup of all contacts and blast patterns in the pits.
  • Assist with special project proposals, design layout, and pick-up of drill/blast and digging areas.
  • Communicate plans effectively and provide appropriate instructions to the designated team.
  • Liaise and maintain good relationships with team members, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders as required.
  • Maintain accurate data, records, and documentation.

Prerequisites for Your Success in This Role
  • Grade 12 Diploma required.
  • Working knowledge of Minesite 3D is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD 3D, ArcGIS and Microsoft Office is considered an asset.
  • Survey drone experience is considered an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in survey-related fields preferred.
  • Experience in mining operations is considered an asset.
  • Experience in heavy construction (earthworks) and/or open pit mining an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • A team player that works well with others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
Your Work Environment

  • Location: Red Chris Mine (fly-in/fly-out role)
  • Rotation: 15 days onsite/ 13 days offsite
  • Conditions: Onsite in a remote, industrial mining environment
  • Requirements: Must pass pre-employment medical, drug & alcohol test, and comply with PPE and safety protocols

We are now recruiting for the position of Surveyor with a competitive annual salary of CAD 83,400 - CAD 111,180. The offered base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills,and competencies, with consideration to internal equity. The expected salary range for this role is CA$83,400-111,180 . This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.
