Purpose

The Electrical and Instrumentation Superintendent is responsible to oversee the maintenance and repair of all electrical and instrumentation systems at Red Chris Mine. The successful candidate will maintain the safety of yourself, direct reports and team members while working closely with planners, Reliability and Supervisor’s to ensure that all electrical jobs are completed - safely, efficiently and economically. The superintendent will lead a team of technicians and work closely with other departments to ensure optimal performance of all the mine’s operational electric and instrumentation needs while ensuring that all electrical and instrumentation equipment operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Our Red Chris operation is now recruiting for an Electrical & Instrumentation Superintendent with a competitive base salary between $144,500.00 - $174,000.00 with an additional short term incentive of 25% and 15% long term incentive. The offered base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills and competencies with consideration to internal equity.
We are seeking an individual for a Fly In, Fly Out opportunity working on a two weeks in, two weeks out rotation.

Essential Duties

Technical Accountabilities

  • Ensure the safety, reliability and cost efficiency of site-wide electrical and instrumentation needs
  • Provide leadership, coaching and guidance to the electrical and instrumentation team.
  • Conduct performance evaluations to identify operational limitations and initiate steps to enhance system performance.
  • Ensure sufficient spares are available and maintained for critical equipment.
  • Ensure critical equipment has redundancy or is backed-up and is protected from fire or other threats.
  • Statutory systems are maintained, audited, and treated according to the relevant legislation.
  • Ensure compliance with change management procedures with bridge logs and registers kept up to date and audited regularly.
  • Manage all Electrical/Instrumentation Maintenance and repair for operation of process plant and assets.
  • Delivery of robust, cost-effective engineering solutions, compliant with site standards.
  • Provide technical support, guidance, and coaching to site personnel on systems, statutory compliance and technical matters related to electrical and instrumentation
  • Solve problems and investigate innovative solutions.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Ensure the ESMP/HVSMP Plans are adhered to. (Electrical Safety Management Plan and High Voltage Safety Management Plan)

General Accountabilities

  • Provide leadership, mentoring and coaching to your direct team.
  • Report diligently to manager & senior leadership team on any critical activities.
  • Stand-in for the manager when required.
  • Management of contracts and contractors under your control including budgets, timelines, support visits, and safety performance.
  • Regular tours of the multi-level Mill and Site
Training & Experience

Position requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Mining or other Heavy industry environment
  • Successful completion of Grade 12
  • Interprovincial Journeyperson Electrician Red Seal is required.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, such as variable frequency drives, protective relays, medium voltage drives, transformers and switchgear, and power distribution systems
  • Experience working with and maintaining 25kv sub stations
  • Experience with large Electrical Drive Systems (ABB)
  • PLC expertise and DeltaV experience is an asset
  • Valid Drivers license
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the role

The expected salary range for this role is CA$145,400 - $174,000/year with additional 25% Short term and 15% Long term incentives . This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s pay history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about pay history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
