Dimensions

This position is located at the Borden site near Chapleau, ON. The incumbent is expected to apply their expertise to collaborate cross-functionally and across various levels at the site to support safe, reliable and sustainable operations of the mine facility. This incumbent will ensure regulatory and procedural compliance relating to both maintenance and operation of the site’s surface facilities with particular emphasis on systems being able to maintain environmental compliance. The role reports to the Mine Superintendent.

Essential Duties

Promoting Safety and Sustainability
• Align with Fatality Risk Management protocols.
• Conduct periodic safety audits / risk assessments for the current project & upcoming projects.
• Follow contractor management guidelines & ensure contractors on surface know how to work safely at all times.
• Lead by example and actively promote full participation by all Newmont safety programs.
• Promote and adhere to Company environmental and sustainability policies.

Facilities Management
• Act as a liaison between the Mine Operations, Site Maintenance, Surface Haulage / Rock Pad Management Contractor and the Porcupine Social & Environmental Responsibility teams.
• Manage the contractors working on surface not related to the direct production activities of the Mine.
• Responsible for creating Expenditure Requests for new and replacement assets on surface and coordinating small to medium size construction activities projects.
• Manage the site custodial services contract.
• In conjunction with the Porcupine Social & Environmental Responsibility team oversee the operation and maintenance of the site water treatment.
• Ensure the site’s cemented rockfill plant facility is operationally prepared.

Environmental Stewardship
• Work closely with the fixed maintenance and Social & Environmental Responsibility groups to ensure in-house and externally-sourced preventative and breakdown maintenance is carried out so that the site’s environmental permit conditions, and more broadly, the site’s social license to operate are preserved

Training & Experience

• Secondary school diploma with a minimum of 5 years of mining/construction/industrial experience or post-secondary education with 2-3 years of technical or field experience.
• Ability to interpret site plans / maps and offer input to maintenance/construction activities.
• Have strong communication and people skills.
• Be focused, clear and decisive.
• Able to impact and influence in order to gain the alignment of the technical and operating teams.

Working Conditions

This position is located at Borden Mine, part of Newmont's Porcupine Mine Site near Chapleau, ON.

In this role, you will work an 4x3 schedule. Relocation options are available.
