Red Chris is a gold and copper mine located in Taltan Territory, northern British Columbia. Operated by Newmont since 2023, the mine is transitioning from open pit to underground block caving-an innovative method that extends mine life while reducing environmental impact. This transition will create new, technically advanced roles and opportunities to work alongside global experts. We are committed to partnering with the Taltan Nation and local communities, ensuring the project delivers long-term social, environmental, and economic benefits.
As Principal, Project Controls (Planning Focus), you will be the technical authority for project planning and scheduling, ensuring that integrated, realistic and risk-informed schedules drive execution across all phases of the project. Your work will directly influence how scope, time and resources are aligned, enabling informed decision-making and predictable delivery in a complex construction and development environment.
You will play a critical role in translating strategy into executable plans, supporting project leaders with clear visibility of critical paths, interfaces, constraints and recovery opportunities.

- Identify schedule risks, interfaces and constraints, and work with multidisciplinary teams to develop mitigation and recovery plans.
- Implement lookahead planning and short-interval control to improve execution predictability in construction phases.
- Ensure alignment between project schedules, contractor schedules and EPCM planning frameworks.
- Develop schedule performance reporting, dashboards and narratives for project leadership and key stakeholders.
- Champion planning best practices, tools and methodologies across the project, mentoring planners and control teams.

- Advanced proficiency in planning and scheduling tools (e.g. Primavera P6, MS Project) and schedule risk analysis methodologies.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, interfaces, and execution strategies in complex projects.
- Proven ability to develop integrated schedules across multiple contractors and disciplines.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate schedule data into actionable insights for leadership.

The role requires adaptability to remote project conditions and flexibility during critical phases, which may include extended hours to meet key milestones.
- You will be part of a culture rooted in safety, inclusion, and strong partnership with the Taltan Nation and local communities.
- This is an opportunity to directly shape one of Newmont’s most innovative projects, advancing the first block cave mining operation in Canada.
