Dimensions

Plan, organize and oversee all full potential projects including the reporting and action plan follow up. Work with the technical services and operational teams with a focus on maximizing mine production.

Purpose
  • Act as a liaison between the technical services and operational teams with a focus on maximizing mine production through better coordination between all groups.
  • Responsible for the coordination and successful implementation of full potential projects action plans.
  • Supervise the site dispatch team
  • Supervise contractors, consultants and company personnel while working in the field on the project to ensure the project is completed in a safe and environmentally conscious manner, according to determined schedules.
Essential Duties
  • The goal is Zero Harm - for all Porcupine personnel, consultants and project contractors and to ensure this is achieved
  • Chair the daily SIC meeting
  • Responsible for completing the monthly productivity matrix
  • Involved in the site budgeting process and the monthly cost review work
  • Responsible for creating the production IRP and presenting them to the site leadership team
  • Lead by example and actively promote full participation by all Newmont safety programs.
  • Conduct periodic safety audits / risk assessments for the current project & upcoming projects
  • Follow up and ensure that the health and safety policies of Porcupine and OHSA are adhered to and enforced.
  • Promote and adhere to Porcupine’s environmental and sustainability policies
  • As required lead the monthly project safety meeting and daily huddles.
  • Accountable to meet project targets in the field.
  • Maintain the project work book, including a regular update of the action plan and KPIs.
  • Monitor and direct all resources including consultants, contractor personnel, equipment, tools and supplies effectively and optimally.
  • Order supplies and equipment as required.
  • Assist in planning of field activities as required/requested
  • Ensure all work is completed according to plans, designs and layouts.
  • Review and approve all contractor field work/time sheets daily
  • Maintain good relations and promote positive attitude for all employees and contractors.
  • Participate in weekly progress meetings on the project and identify action items for follow-up.
Training & Experience
  • Secondary school diploma with a minimum of 15 years of underground experience or post-secondary education with 5 years of technical or field experience. Supervisory Common Core training.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential
  • Strong ability to plan effectively and a track record of effectively executing plans. Experience in overseeing activities in the field.
  • Ability to interpret engineering designs and plans and offer input to design issues.
  • A strong working knowledge of underground mining and production drilling operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and work with peers and others.
Working Conditions

This is a site based position supporting our Borden operation in Chapleau, ON.
The schedule is 14 days on, 14 days off.
