As an Intern, Environmental Technician at the Equity Silver site, you’ll support environmental monitoring and remediation efforts critical to the safe operation of legacy mine infrastructure. Your hands-on work will help ensure regulatory compliance and protect local ecosystems during the summer field season.
- Assist with water sampling, inspections, and site clean-up tasks
- Support wastewater treatment plant operations and bench-scale testing
- Maintain accurate records, perform hazard analyses, and ensure WHMIS compliance
- Operate light vehicles and ATVs for sample collection and site access
- Complete daily system inspections and support equipment monitoring
- Help with vegetation removal and minor maintenance around waste rock and tailings areas
Enrolled in a post-secondary program in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field
Strong organization, communication, and problem-solving skills
Experience with environmental sampling or industrial sites an asset
Knowledge of WHMIS, TDG, or First Aid is a plus
Preference may be given to local First Nations candidates
Location: Equity Silver Legacy Site (Houston, BC)
Setting: Outdoor fieldwork and wastewater treatment facility
Conditions: Exposure to weather, uneven terrain, and wildlife
Gear: Must use PPE and may require confined space or fall protection equipment
Schedule: Term-based summer position (approximately 4 months, May-August)
This is a casual, term-based summer internship opportunity with a competitive hourly wage of up to $31.45. The final offered wage will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies, with consideration to internal equity. The expected salary range for this role is CAD $ 31.45. This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s pay history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about pay history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
