Medicine Hat Public School Division is taking applications for Primary Early Childhood Educators (ECE) for our Licensed Play & Learn programs. Primary ECE is a 3.5 hour position and may be combined with a 3 hour EA position for current employees. This is a ten-month position that includes competitive compensation and employee benefits.

The role of the Primary Early Childhood Educators will be to plan and provide programming opportunities for kindergarten aged children in the Play & Learn programs. You will be responsible to plan and deliver programming supporting the development of early literacy, early numeracy, motor skills and social emotional growth of children participating in Play & Learn during the 2025-2026 school year. Successful candidates will remain in the position ongoing if enrollment supports. This position beings on August 25, 2025.

Qualifications

  • Preference for Level 2 or Level 3 Alberta Early Childhood Educator Certification. May consider Level 1 Certification with a commitment to enroll and complete Level 2 education program in 2025-2026 school year.
  • Intermediate First Aid/CPR
  • Criminal record check with vulnerable sector check less than three months old will be required prior to employment.

The ideal candidates will have:

  • Exceptional program planning and organizational skills.
  • The ability to provide programming to support learning through play with Flight: Alberta's Early Learning and Care Framework as a guiding document.
  • Demonstrated a commitment to work collaboratively with teachers, educational assistants and administration to support student success.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable in order to carry out effective programming for children and provide leadership for the Play & Learn team.
  • Interpersonal skills that result in building positive relationships through effective communication.
  • An understanding of child development and experience working with children with diverse needs.
  • Ability to understand and follow ISP's and behavior support plans.
  • Experience with and understanding of the Alberta Early Learning and Childcare Act and Regulations.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
