Administrative Assistant I
This position will have some Library responsibilities
10-month work schedule from September to June
Part-Time - 0.5 FTE/18.75 hours per week
Effective Date: August 25, 2025 for the 2025-2026 School Year
Alexandra Middle School is looking for a caring and dedicated individual to fill a part-time Administrative Assistant I position with some Library responsibilities.
Alexandra Middle School embraces a Middle School philosophy informed by the Circle of Courage. Therefore, we seek individuals who are enthusiastic, caring, and committed to working with this age group of learners and their unique characteristics. Alexandra Middle School has a student population of about 450 students from grade 7 - 9.
Responsibilities:
- Will include some library duties which could include taking leadership in organizing and maintaining the school library, facilitating literacy themes and book fairs, and assisting students and staff with accessing library resources.
- Other related clerical duties such as filing, faxing, photocopying.
- Reception: meeting, greeting, and directing people, answering telephone and giving messages to staff and students
- Create, modify or prepare documents such as letters, memos, handbooks, reports, forms, minutes, newsletters etc.
Preference will be given to applicants with:
- Diploma or certificate in Office Administration and/or a related field is an asset
- Previous administrative support and receptionist experience required
- must have excellent telephone skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with staff, students and parents
- ability to multi-task
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office
- Computer system experience with programs such as Google Docs, and other educational software such as KevSoft, Atrieve and PowerSchool is an asset.
- Experience working in a K-12 education environment is an asset.
