The Opportunity:

The Shopper Marketing Manager is responsible for creating and leading the execution of retailer specific events that drives a shopper’s preference for Maple Leaf Brands. Leveraging shopper insights, this role leads the development of an overall strategy that impacts the retailer’s shopper along the path to purchase. Key deliverables include: annual strategy creation, engagement with sales, and marketing teams, participation in development of retailer specific events or customization of Maple Leaf scale events, conversion of insights into relevant shopper programs, budget management, and promotional evaluation.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:
  • Creation of a shopper marketing strategy, including continuous reviews of programs executed, leading to recommendations of how to optimize future programs.
  • Develop retailer specific strategies for in-store and omnichannel shopper marketing programs, by incorporating generic or retailer specific insights into development of ideas that will help solve a shopper program.
  • Lead project management of Shopper Marketing events, by attending cross functional meetings, customer meetings, analyzing the marketplace, budgeting, setting timelines, and gathering feedback/approval from all key internal/external stakeholders.
  • Execute your programs with excellence - manage end-to-end - from briefing stage right through to production/execution.
  • Develop innovative merchandising solutions to enhance our product visibility and drive consumer engagement by working collaboratively with brand marketing team. May include signage or unique display designs.
  • Manage budget for all customer specific activations to deliver volume and impact in store - includes management of suppliers, fulfillment houses etc.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal cross-functional teams, including internal graphics, brand, category, sales and field sales team to ensure seamless execution of shopper marketing initiatives.
  • Deep knowledge of retailer strategies and the role that categories play in the delivery of the strategy.
  • Liaises with Maple Leaf brand marketing & category teams to ensure clear understanding of positioning and overall brand strategy.
  • Contributes to retailer led JBP or annual planning process, ensuring category opportunities are realized.
What You’ll Bring:
  • Post secondary education.
  • Proven experience in Shopper Marketing, preferably within the consumer goods industry
  • 3+ years in Shopper Marketing, US retail experience an asset
  • Strong Strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Understanding of sales and retailer strategy
  • Ability to develop and create in store marketing materials.
  • Strong project, time management, ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously in a complex environment
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to build relationships at multiple levels - internally and externally
  • Creative thinking and a passion for driving consumer engagement and sales through innovative marketing solutions
