Role Summary
The Warranty Engineer is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day warranty tickets, preparing reports, driving parts and cost related analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand customer warranty agreements and requirements.
- Track incoming warranty returned parts ensuring that customer response timing requirements are being met.
- Assist in swift implementation of containment actions, engaging necessary Engineering or Manufacturing personnel.
- Work with a team to generate problem solving reports (8D, 5Y, Fishbone, Is/Is not, etc.) that may be shared with internal or external customers, and be capable to engaging relevant functions into problem solving, such as Quality, Engineering etc
- Work directly with customers to report, problem solve and help reduce warranty concerns with end users of Magna produced products.
- Generate warranty presentations for management and customers to increase awareness, establish priorities and get buy-in on appropriate actions.
- Guide Warranty Technicians to determine proper warranty analysis methods and review results.
- Participate in CIP (Continuous Improvement Processes) activities. May work on projects involving cost reduction, warranty reduction, or evaluation of new equipment, etc.
- Maintain customer charges trackers, analyse debit notes be a decision maker for those charges acceptance/rejections within requirements set
- Develop and Maintain troubleshooting Work Instructions, Provide trainings for other technicians
- Support with any other assignments in Quality Assurance Laboratory
Key Qualifications/Requirements
Education
- Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Degree
Experience
- Minimum 1.5 years of relevant engineering and/or hardware/software troubleshooting/development experience
- Knowledge of OEM warranty systems including PRAS+, EWT, WIS, PartLink, PRTS is a plus
- Ability to communicate with external customers and suppliers, occasionally in times of high visibility/increased pressure.
- Ability to lead a team and drive continuous improvement
- Proven experience working with cross functional teams to complete daily tasks and projects.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with Customer and internal stakeholders
- Knowledge/experience of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
- Strong problem-solving skills to identify and troubleshoot issues that may arise.
- Ability to travel occasionally to customer locations
