JOB OVERVIEW
The Jr. Accountant is responsible for performing accounting, financial analysis and month end close duties.
Salary Range: $63,500 - $73,500
FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS
• A post-secondary diploma in an accounting or finance discipline is required
• CPA designation or actively pursuing designation an asset
• Proficiency in Excel and Power BI
• Problem analysis and resolution skills
CORE COMPETENCIES
• Solid understanding of GAAPs
• Thorough knowledge of full accounts payable/receivable process
• Proficient knowledge of CM (or other ERP system) an asset
• Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills
• Attention to detail / organizational skills
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Innovative, self motivated and excited to take initiative
• Maintains confidentiality.
• Able to work to deadlines with minimal supervision.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities will evolve based on the skill set and level of experience of the Jr. Accountant and will consist of, but is not limited to:
• Prepare Journal entries, required accruals and general ledger account reconciliations
• Cost variance analysis
• Preparation of various internal and corporate financial reports
• Intercompany reconciliations and accruals
• Liaise with purchasing department to ensure all supplier related issues are resolved effectively and efficiently
• Ensure accurate and timeliness of payables processing
• Manage vendor payments in accordance with their terms, review and approve payments
• Daily treasury functions including cash reporting, clearing of cashed cheques, wire transfers, and EFTs, and cash forecasting
• Assist with special projects, including review & implementation of effective systems & controls
• Completion of other finance related projects and initiatives as assigned
• Maintenance of standard costing environment
• Track customer issues, support sales team and provide updates
• Quote customer changes and obtain appropriate documentation and approvals
• Ensure policies comply with SOX controls and financial policies.
• Performs all duties in accordance with IATF and ISO standards.
• Maintains safe working practices and compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations
