Electrician (Certified)

The Electrician is primarily responsible to service, maintain and test production equipment. This position will support production by troubleshooting problems, making repairs & system improvements (optimization).

JOB-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assembles and installs new equipment and machines and is able to make modifications to existing equipment as requested.
• Carries out preventative maintenance procedures on electrical equipment as laid out by the manufacturer’s specifications.
• Coordinate activities of co-op students, apprentices, helpers and assigned contractors.
• Assist in determining and setting up spare part requirements.
• Perform all duties in an environmentally responsible manner in accordance with the Karmax Environmental Policy Statement-3 P’s. Prevent Pollution, Preserve Natural Resources & Protect our Environment
• Maintain safety standards of equipment & work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the safety policies of Karmax.
• Perform other duties as required.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12 Education or GED
• Certificate of Qualification Industrial Electrician 442 or Electrician 309
• Must be able to work Rotating Shifts & Weekend Overtime to meet Department Requirements with a Minimum amount of Supervision

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent mathematical, analytical and organizational skills
• Able to perform various computer functions (Microsoft Office, Karmax Software)
• Able to safely operate all Material Handling Equipment (Forklift, crane, buggy) in assigned area of responsibility.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Must be able to work in various locations within and outside the Manufacturing Plant
• Lifting up to 20 kgs
• Exposed regularly to elements such as temperature and noise
• Must be comfortable working at heights and within confined spaces.

COMPENSATION PACKAGE AND PERQUISITES:

• Hourly wage of $46.61/hr
  • Shift Premium Afternoon Shift: + $1.00/hr
  • Shift Premium Night Shift: + $1.25/hr

• 2 Weeks Vacation after 6 months of employment, 4 Personal Paid Holidays and 2 Floater Days
