Reporting to the Executive Manager of Custodial, the Community Use of Schools Specialist will provide a variety of services, support, and training to address the system-wide building use for internal and external groups. The incumbent will be the first point of contact for inquires related to the use of Board properties. Updating and develop policies and procedures for the Community Use of Schools Program. Oversee program implementation and assigning staff to effectively manage after hour use of schools.
This position is available to fill an existing vacancy within the organization.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Post secondary education, minimum 2-year diploma
- Minimum 5 years working experience in a related capacity
- Understanding and experience with e-Base and Community Use software.
- Experience with custodial procedures for staffing purposes.
- Excellent problem solving, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in an organized manner, and collaboratively in a team-based environment.
- Ability to maintain and respect confidentiality and security.
- Must have a valid Ontario driver’s license (Full “G” License).
Operational Responsibilities:
- Create, review, edit, approve facility public use requests.
- Maintain and revise CUS rules and regulations as needed.
- Liaise with school principals to create and monitor internal bookings.
- Meets with community stakeholders to assist in program development.
- Facilitate special events and supports for internal and external groups.
- Provides information on school activities.
- Provides access to LDCSB schools for community groups and programs.
- Analyzes and determines best fit programs for schools and develops relationships and partnership between school staff and community groups or individuals.
- Negotiate reciprocal agreements with partners like municipalities, Diocese of London and other stakeholders. Assist with Joint-Use agreements.
- Create and renew leases for Before and After School Programs. Work closely with contracted lawyers to create terms according to Ministry of Education directives.
- Liaise with Community partners to create opportunities for investment into our sporting infrastructure.
- On a rotational basis, responsible for carrying the Board page for after-hour issues.
- Occasionally make weekend visits to schools where Community Use activities are scheduled.
- Respond to calls and support custodial staff during weekend events.
