Premiums

  • Operators will be eligible to receive premiums starting at $5/hour, when performing winter maintenance operations
  • $3/hour Tow Plow Premium for AZ drivers deemed competent while directed to operate tow plow
  • $3/hour AZ Premium when directed to operate equipment that required AZ
  • $5/hour Grader Operator premium (does not apply to employees holding the Grader Operator classification
  • $3/hour Wide Wing premium for AZ drivers

Work Conditions

  • Local applicants will be given preference due to the location of the work
  • Accommodations provided for out of town applicants in Hinkler Lake, Chapleau and White River
  • As we respond to various weather patterns, shift work, on-call, and night shift will be required
  • Work schedules will consist of either 5 consecutive days followed by 2 days off or 6 consecutive days followed by 1 day off, with daily shifts lasting 8 to 12 hours (Shop specific)
  • CLAC union position

Essential Responsibilities

  • Operate snowplow trucks, wheel loaders, and other heavy equipment as required
  • Maintain Ontario Provincial Highways year-round, including assisting with Labourer duties (pothole repair, guardrail repair, bridge and signage cleaning, hazard remediation, etc.)
  • Work outside in all weather conditions

Qualifications

  • Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting 50 lbs. on a regular basis, bending, kneeling, crouching etc.
  • Valid AZ or DZ driver’s license with air endorsement
  • Provide a copy of a 3-year commercial driver’s abstract
  • Previous experience operating a snowplow truck and/or wheel loader is a strong asset

Compensation

$18.73 - $26.75

This is the expected base pay range for this role. Individual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors including experience, knowledge, skills, education and location.
