Description

We are seeking an experienced operations leader to manage the day-to-day operational coordination of a Bell 412 helicopter fleet supporting Quebec’s provincial air ambulance program. This role is responsible for operational execution, readiness, coordination across functions, and ensuring that flight operations are supported by effective planning, communication, and resource management.

The Operations Manager plays a central role in linking flight crews, maintenance, dispatch, and clinical stakeholders to ensure safe, reliable, and responsive air ambulance service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operational activities to support continuous air ambulance coverage

  • Coordinate aircraft, crew, and dispatch resources to maintain mission readiness

  • Monitor operational performance and address issues impacting service delivery

  • Act as the primary operational liaison between pilots, maintenance, dispatch, and clinical partners

  • Ensure clear communication and alignment across operational teams and bases

  • Support resolution of day-to-day operational challenges, including weather, staffing, and aircraft availability

  • Support operational planning related to staffing, rotations, and coverage requirements

  • Coordinate short- and medium-term operational schedules to meet contractual obligations

  • Provide input into fleet utilization, base readiness, and capacity planning

  • Actively support the organization’s safety culture and operational reporting systems

  • Participate in incident reviews, debriefs, and follow-up actions

  • Identify operational inefficiencies or risks and drive practical improvement initiatives

  • Support interactions with provincial stakeholders and clinical partners as required

  • Ensure operational processes align with service-level expectations of the air ambulance program

  • Assist with onboarding, training coordination, and operational documentation

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in helicopter operations management, dispatch, or base management

  • Strong understanding of rotary-wing EMS / air ambulance operations

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, time-critical operations

  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Comfortable working in a multi-base, 24/7 operational environment

  • Ability to work effectively in a bilingual (French/English) workplace
