We’re looking for a seasoned and forward thinking Millwright Superintendent to help lead our growing Industrial division as we take on a series of major projects across Western Canada. In this pivotal role, you’ll oversee the safe, efficient, and high quality execution of all millwrighting and mechanical installation activities, driving field excellence from initial planning through to final turnover.

As a key site leader, you will champion safety and environmental stewardship, uphold rigorous quality standards, and execute field project plans that keep crews productive, aligned, and on schedule. You’ll provide clear direction to millwrights, equipment specialists, subcontractors, and trades, ensuring all work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all millwrighting work is completed according to approved drawings, specifications, equipment manuals, and applicable codes, while maintaining efficiency in labour and materials

  • Ensure site safety requirements meet or exceed corporate standards, regulatory expectations, and Workers’ Compensation Board requirements

  • Review, maintain, and update the construction schedule, ensuring mechanical milestones and completion targets are met

  • Oversee the care, operation, and maintenance of mechanical tools, equipment, and company assets; forecast equipment needs in coordination with other superintendents and the Construction Manager

  • Review subcontractor/supplier invoices against field purchase orders and report discrepancies to the Project Manager or accounting team

  • Hire, lead, and mentor hourly millwright crews in collaboration with Construction/Project Managers; approve and submit detailed timecards for accurate job costing

  • Prepare field change orders to be signed by owners or their representatives as required

  • Work with coordinators/engineers to craft and submit RFI’s to clarify scope, drawings, or installation requirements

  • Develop and implement resource loaded 3week lookahead schedules aligned with overall project milestones

Qualifications:

  • 3 to 8 years of mechanical or industrial construction supervision experience

  • Journeyperson Millwright (Industrial Mechanic) designation required

  • Previous experience as a General Foreman, Superintendent, or similar direct supervisory role

  • Combination of industry experience and related trade certifications/education

  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, industrial equipment installation, alignment, rigging, and commissioning processes

  • Ability to plan, sequence, and manage mechanical scope to a project schedule

  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, mechanical documentation, and contract requirements

  • Knowledge of project budgets, mechanical cost controls, and contract management

  • Demonstrated safety leadership and ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt to different audiences

  • Ability to identify issues, interpret stakeholder needs, and provide solutions to nonroutine challenges

  • Skilled at promoting teamwork and building consensus

Work Conditions:

  • Travel required; fulltime project location will be determined within Western Canada

  • Site based role; rotational shift may apply depending on project requirements

  • Ability to work evenings, holidays, weekends, and travel away from home as needed
