Description

Are you an aspiring Estimator with expertise in multi-disciplinary commercial, institutional, and light industrial construction projects? In this role, you will excel in managing quantity take-offs, cost analyses, subcontractor negotiations, competitive bid preparation, and document control using advanced estimating software, such as Onscreen Take Off (OST). With the ability to work independently or with minimal supervision, you will play a pivotal role in developing hard bid, cost-plus, and design-build estimates for a diverse range of projects.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs for all estimate areas, ensuring clear documentation for project team handover, including safety and security requirements per Ledcor policies and applicable legislation
  • Analyze plans, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive bid estimates, including site visits, quantity take-offs and pricing
  • Integrate drawing specifications, terms, and conditions into bids and review RFIs prior to submission
  • Assist with subcontractor and supplier solicitation efforts, review and analyze quotes, and provide data to support subcontractor selection for large and complex bids
  • Understand and review project schedules and execution schedules based on estimates, incorporating input from project teams and relevant trades
  • Support the presentation of estimate proposals to stakeholders
  • Prepare high level conceptual estimates using historical data and insights
  • Participating in major trade pre-award meetings as required

Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years of estimating experience, ideally within ICI construction; on-site project management experience is an asset
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Estimating, Engineering, or a related field
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Onscreen Take Off (OST), and related estimating software; familiarity with BIM modeling is an asset
  • Strong understanding of trade-related drawings, specifications, and construction documents, with the ability to assess their completeness
  • Market knowledge of construction costs, budgets, and project schedule development
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences including high volumes of subcontractor phone calls

Working Conditions

  • Office based position in Edmonton, Alberta with occasional travel
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving abstract
  • WHMIS 2015 training certification (completed or willingness to obtain)
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements
