Description

You are a Senior Estimator with a minimum of 10 years of experience delivering accurate, strategic estimates for commercial, institutional, and residential (multi-family) construction projects. You lead quantity take-offs, cost analyses, subcontractor negotiations, and bid preparation using advanced estimating tools such as Onscreen Take Off.

Working independently and providing leadership as needed, you play a key role in developing hard bid, cost-plus, and design-build estimates, while supporting preconstruction planning, risk assessment, and overall project success.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead subcontractor and supplier solicitation efforts for large and complex bids, including overseeing bid invitations, leveling, and comprehensive analysis of quotations to support strategic subcontractor selection
  • Perform and/or oversee detailed quantity take-offs across all estimate divisions, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and clear documentation for seamless project handover, including safety and security requirements per Ledcor policies and applicable legislation
  • Analyze plans, specifications, proposals, and related documentation to develop complete and competitive bid estimates, including coordinating site visits, take-offs, pricing strategies, and preparation of executive-level presentations for management review
  • Integrate drawing specifications, contractual terms, and conditions into bid submissions, while reviewing and managing RFIs to ensure completeness and risk mitigation prior to submission
  • Develop and validate project schedules and execution plans based on estimates, collaborating with project teams and key trades to ensure feasibility and alignment
  • Lead and support the presentation of estimate proposals to internal stakeholders and senior leadership
  • Prepare conceptual and preliminary estimates using historical data, benchmarking, and industry insights to inform early-stage decision-making
  • Participate in and, where required, lead major trade pre-award meetings, providing technical guidance and commercial insight

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of estimating experience across commercial, industrial, multi-family residential, or ICI construction; additional on-site project management experience is considered a strong asset
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of trade-related drawings, specifications, and construction documents, with the ability to assess completeness and identify gaps
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Estimating, Engineering, or a related field
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office, Onscreen Take Off (OST), and related estimating software; experience with BIM modeling and integration is an asset
  • Strong ability to interpret and critically evaluate drawings and specifications, including identifying risks and opportunities
  • In-depth knowledge of construction costs, budgeting, procurement strategies, and project schedule development
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders, present complex information clearly, and mentor junior team members
