The Opportunity

 

KPMG’s national Critical Infrastructure Resilience and Emergency Management practice is growing and is looking for an individual who brings strengths in emergency management. The individual would join in either our Vancouver or Victoria office.

 

 


What you will do

As a Manager within Critical Infrastructure Resilience and Emergency Management you are responsible for helping public and private sector clients across Canada with:

 

  • Leading and supporting teams to plan for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters
  • Reducing vulnerabilities and increasing the resilience of critical infrastructure systems and assets in relation to a wide range of disasters, including those exacerbated by climate change

 

The position requires sensible consideration, technical expertise, critical thinking, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively internally and with other stakeholders.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating major projects for public (federal, provincial, municipal, First Nation government) and private sector (e.g., critical infrastructure asset owners) clients across a wide variety of industries and sectors including transportation, social infrastructure, energy, telecommunications, and natural resources
  • Own the development of emergency management plans, risk assessments, state of readiness assessments, logistics plans in relation to emergency response, and disaster recovery plans
  • Development and implementation of strategies, policies, and procedures to enhance the resilience of communities and critical infrastructure in relation to emergencies and disasters exacerbated by climate change
  • Take ownership of assessments of potential hazards, vulnerabilities and risks that could impact communities and critical infrastructure and recommend adaptations to foster resiliency
  • Manage projects and teams
  • Prepare response efforts for ongoing or anticipated emergencies and disasters
  • Prepare and distribute reports and proposals
  • Prepare proposals for RFP submissions
  • Perform research, data gathering and analysis
  • Assist with the development and review of engagement reports and technical project reviews
  • Assist in preparing strategic plans, business plans and business cases

What you bring to the role

  • Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Climate Adaptation, Geography, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in emergency management, business continuity, climate adaptation, critical infrastructure protection or a related field
  • Excellent project management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in an exciting and fast-paced environment and to prioritize and care for multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of federal, provincial, and municipal policies related to emergency management and critical infrastructure protection
  • Certifications in emergency management, business continuity management, logistics, climate adaptation, or related fields would be an asset

 

KPMG BC Region Pay Range Information   

The expected base salary range for this position is $74,500 to $127,500 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant’s base salary within this range is based on the individual’s location, skills & competencies, and unique qualifications. In addition, KPMG offers a comprehensive and competitive Total Rewards program.
