POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Superintendent of Business, the Finance Manager is responsible for managing and providing leadership to the Finance department, including the accounting, payroll, and purchasing functions. This position is responsible for preparing and presenting various financial analyses to both internal and external stakeholders, developing financial policies and procedures, and implementing and monitoring internal controls. In addition, the Finance Manager is responsible for preparing the School Board’s annual audited financial statements and assisting with the preparation and monitoring of the Board’s annual operating budget.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education : Candidates who are not currently pursuing, or do not hold a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA)designation must possess a university degree in finance or accounting from a recognized institution.
  • Experience: A minimum of 7 years of experience in preparing and presenting various financial analyses and statements is required. 10 years of experience, including experience in a leadership capacity and experience in a School Board environment is preferred.
  • Certifications or Designations: Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
  • Position Specific: Knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) accounting standards and requirements.
