What you will do
The Claims Advisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of workplace injury and insurance claims within a manufacturing environment. This includes managing Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) claims, coordinating return-to-work programs, and ensuring compliance with provincial legislation and internal policies. The role requires strong collaboration with operations, HR, safety teams, and external stakeholders to minimize risk and support injured employees
How you will do it
Claims Management
Manage and oversee all WCB and insurance claims from incident reporting to resolution.
Investigate workplace incidents in collaboration with safety and operations teams.
Liaise with WCB Alberta, insurers, medical providers, and legal counsel as needed.
Maintain accurate and confidential records of all claims and related documentation.
Return-to-Work Coordination
Develop and implement modified work and return-to-work programs.
Collaborate with supervisors and employees to ensure safe and timely reintegration.
Monitor progress and adjust plans based on medical updates and operational needs.
Compliance & Reporting
Ensure compliance with Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety Act and WCB regulations.
Prepare regular reports on claims trends, costs, and performance metrics.
Support audits and provide documentation for regulatory or insurance reviews.
Training & Prevention
Provide training to supervisors and staff on incident reporting and claims processes.
Identify trends and recommend improvements to reduce workplace injuries and claims.
Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to risk mitigation strategies.
What we look for
Required:
Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience managing WCB or insurance claims, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Strong knowledge of Alberta WCB legislation and return-to-work best practices.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
Proficiency in claims management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Certification in disability management (e.g., CDMP, CRTWC) is an asset.
