Position Summary
We are hiring a permanent, part-time Respiratory Therapist (RT) at East Kootenay Regional Hospital (EKH) located in Cranbrook, B.C.
Days of work: Rotating
Shift times: 07:00 to 19:15, 19:00 to 07:15; on call is a requirement with this position
What we offer:
We provide a comprehensive, competitive, and people focused employment package, emphasizing wellness, growth, work-life balance, and long-term stability.
Locations that qualify for B.C. Student Loan Forgiveness Program.
About this position:
At EKH, Respiratory Therapists are key clinical partners across the entire hospital, providing care in all acute areas and participating directly in High Acuity Response Team (HART) transports. The role includes managing acute and chronic cardio respiratory conditions, performing airway management, ventilator setup and monitoring, assisting with diagnostics (like pulmonary function tests and arterial blood sampling), and supporting code blues, trauma cases, high risk deliveries, and ICU rounds. RTs work rotating day and night shifts with on call and HART transports required. The environment is highly collaborative, offering exposure to all patient populations, opportunities to build advanced skills (such as intubation assistance, arterial line support, neonatal CPAP), and a strong culture of mentorship and team connection.
As a Respiratory Therapist on the HART team, you aren’t just part of a transport service - you’re a lifeline for patients who would otherwise struggle to access critical care. This is your opportunity to practice at the top of your scope while helping strengthen rural health care within Interior Health.
About this location:
Cranbrook is located within the traditional territory of the Ktunaxa Nation, whose people have lived in the Kootenay region for more than 10,000 years and remain an active, integral part of the region’s cultural identity.
