Position Summary
Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH) has a relief (i.e. temporary) full-time Occupational Therapist opening in acute care.

About the Position

This position will provide relief coverage until December 2026 or return of the incumbent. Days of work are Monday to Friday; 08:00 to 16:00.

At KBRH an Occupational Therapist (OT) role is likely to cover a broad spectrum of patient populations, settings and intervention types. Accordingly, this position works on inpatient units performing assessments of functional ability, cognitive screening, recommendations for safe discharge, equipment prescription.
• Provide OT assessment and intervention in acute and post‐acute settings (medical, surgical, ICU/step down, older adult care), including ADL/IADL, mobility and cognitive functional assessment.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to plan and implement functional rehabilitation, discharge planning and transition to home or other care settings.
• Provide patient, family and caregiver education regarding functional strategies, adaptive equipment and community reintegration.
• Direct work to rehabilitation assistants and collaborate with physiotherapy and other team members to coordinate care and monitor patient progression.
• Adapt and respond to varying patient loads and unit assignments as part of a relief full‐time role; flexibility across units and patient populations is key.
• Contribute to continuous quality improvement, documentation, professional development and inter‐professional collaboration in a regional hospital setting.

Qualfications
Full practicing registration as an Occupational Therapist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC). Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists. Valid driver’s license as required.
