Position Summary
Interior Health is hiring a Permanent Part-Time Nurse Practitioner!

Foundry East Kootenay is hosted by Ktunaxa Kinbasket Child and Family Services Society. At Foundry centres, multiple service providers and organizations work together to provide a variety of services to youth ages 12-24 and their families. Services are provided primarily at our Cranbrook centre, with weekly virtual family physician services offered to youth in the greater East Kootenay region.

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is responsible and accountable for comprehensive patient/client/resident assessment, including diagnosing diseases, disorders, and conditions. The NP initiates treatment, including health care management, therapeutic interventions, and prescribing medications in accordance with statutory and regulatory standards, limits, conditions, and employer policies. The NP provides professional guidance to other health professionals and practices autonomously and interdependently within an interdisciplinary team, making referrals to specialists as appropriate.

This NP will provide services within the Ktunaxa Health Clinic to Indigenous and non-Indigenous clients, with a focus on mental health, substance use, and marginalized populations. Cultural competency training is an asset; the successful applicant will receive Ktunaxa cultural training as required.

The position collaborates with patients/clients/residents and other health professionals to identify and assess trends and patterns that have implications for individuals, families, and communities; develops and implements population- and evidence-based strategies to improve health; participates in policy-making activities that influence health services; and engages in peer and self-review to evaluate service outcomes at patient, community, and population levels.

Salary range for the position is $74.74/hour - $82.21/hour. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant.

Key Responsibilities:


Diagnosis and Treatment: Assess and diagnose undifferentiated diseases and conditions, provide treatment, and prescribe medications in line with the Nurse Practitioner’s scope of practice and regulatory standards.

Care Management: Monitor ongoing care, order diagnostic investigations, interpret results, and develop tailored treatment plans to optimize patient outcomes.

Patient Communication: Establish care priorities, provide follow-up treatment, and communicate effectively with patients and families about diagnoses, care plans, and prognoses.

Collaboration and Consultation: Work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assess, diagnose, and create individualized treatment plans. May also admit and discharge patients as per organizational policies.

Prescribing Medication: Prescribe medications within legal and regulatory guidelines, ensuring the safe and effective use of pharmaceutical treatments.

Leadership and Supervision: Lead and guide other nursing and healthcare personnel. Provide education, supervision, and performance evaluations to support professional development.

Research and Innovation: Contribute to research aimed at enhancing patient care and advancing nursing practices. Participate in initiatives to influence healthcare policies and population health strategies.

Health Promotion: Lead health promotion activities and screenings, focusing on at-risk populations to prevent illness and promote well-being.

Education and Mentorship: Facilitate interdisciplinary education through case presentations, mentoring, and collaboration in clinical and community settings. Support continuous learning and knowledge sharing.

Policy Development: Develop, implement, and evaluate policies related to nursing, interdisciplinary care, and health system practices.

Palliative and Long-Term Care: Serve as the most responsible provider for patients in palliative, hospice, and long-term care settings when required.

Safety and Compliance: Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety guidelines to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Ensure compliance with training and incident investigation protocols.

Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as necessary to support patient care and organizational goals.

Qualfications
Education, Training, and Experience
• Current registration and exam-qualified as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Recent, relevant clinical nursing experience.
