Interior Health is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our dynamic Cardiac Program at Kelowna General Hospital in beautiful British Columbia.

In this role, the Nurse Practitioner will be a vital member of the RACE Clinic team, providing rapid, high-quality, and comprehensive cardiac assessment and care for patients presenting with new or worsening cardiovascular symptoms. The position focuses on timely evaluation, triage, diagnostic planning, and early intervention to help prevent unnecessary emergency department visits or hospital admissions.

Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, the NP has expedited access to cardiologists and cardiac specialty services. The RACE Clinic supports patients referred following visits to the emergency department or primary care settings, offering same-day or next-day appointments as needed.

The clinic is based at Kelowna General Hospital and operates by appointment from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The standard shift for this position is 8:00am to 4:00pm.

Salary Range: Salary range for the position is $74.74/hour - $82.21/hour. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive cardiovascular assessments, including detailed history-taking, physical examination, and risk stratification.
• Order and interpret diagnostic as tests as appropriate such as ECGs, echocardiograms, stress testing, and relevant laboratory investigations.
• Collaborate with cardiologists and interdisciplinary teams to formulate and implement patient-centered management plans.
• Provide patient education and counseling on cardiac risk factors, medication adherence, lifestyle modification, and symptom monitoring.
• Ensure timely follow-up and transition of care to the appropriate cardiology services or primary care provider.
• Participate in the development and implementation of clinical protocols, quality improvement initiatives, and data tracking relevant to the RACE program.
• Utilize electronic medical records (EMRs) to document encounters, track outcomes, and support data collection for program evaluation.
• Respond to urgent patient inquiries or clinical concerns in coordination with the broader care team.
• Stay current on best practices and advancements in cardiovascular care, particularly in rapid access models.
• Other programmatic duties as required

Qualfications
• Master’s degree or Doctorate in Nursing (MSN/DNP) with Nurse Practitioner certification.
• Active and unrestricted NP license in BC
• Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in cardiology or acute care preferred
• ACLS certification preferred, Basic level CPR a requirement
• Strong clinical judgment, decision-making, and communication skills.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary team and in fast-paced clinical environments.
