Position Summary
Who are we looking for?
North Hills Care Centre is hiring a Term Specific Full Time Nurse Practitioner. This clinic provides healthcare for individuals and families in a community-based family practice setting. Patients can receive care from their primary care provider-either a family doctor or a nurse practitioner-and their teams. Services include general checkups, chronic disease management, reproductive and sexual health, disease prevention, mental health and wellness, and children’s health. Care is available to patients who are attached to a family doctor or nurse practitioner at the clinic.
Hours/Rotation:
• Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 08:00 - 18:00
• Clinic hours: 08:00 - 16:00
• This is a term position until Dec 31, 2025 or return of incumbent

Salary Range: Salary range for the position is $74.74/hour - $82.21/hour. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant.

Key Responsibilities:
Diagnosis and Treatment: Assess and diagnose undifferentiated diseases and conditions, provide treatment, and prescribe medications in line with the Nurse Practitioner’s scope of practice and regulatory standards.
Care Management: Monitor ongoing care, order diagnostic investigations, interpret results, and develop tailored treatment plans to optimize patient outcomes.
Patient Communication: Establish care priorities, provide follow-up treatment, and communicate effectively with patients and families about diagnoses, care plans, and prognoses.
Collaboration and Consultation: Work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assess, diagnose, and create individualized treatment plans. May also admit and discharge patients as per organizational policies.
Prescribing Medication: Prescribe medications within legal and regulatory guidelines, ensuring the safe and effective use of pharmaceutical treatments.
Leadership and Supervision: Lead and guide other nursing and healthcare personnel. Provide education, supervision, and performance evaluations to support professional development.
Research and Innovation: Contribute to research aimed at enhancing patient care and advancing nursing practices. Participate in initiatives to influence healthcare policies and population health strategies.
Health Promotion: Lead health promotion activities and screenings, focusing on at-risk populations to prevent illness and promote well-being.
Education and Mentorship: Facilitate interdisciplinary education through case presentations, mentoring, and collaboration in clinical and community settings. Support continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
Policy Development: Develop, implement, and evaluate policies related to nursing, interdisciplinary care, and health system practices.
Palliative and Long-Term Care: Serve as the most responsible provider for patients in palliative, hospice, and long-term care settings when required.
Safety and Compliance: Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety guidelines to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Ensure compliance with training and incident investigation protocols.
Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as necessary to support patient care and organizational goals.

Qualfications
Education: Master’s degree in Nursing (NP) or equivalent.
Certification: Current Nurse Practitioner certification with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives
Experience: Previous experience in a clinical or healthcare setting, with the ability to diagnose, treat, and manage patient care is considered an asset.
