Position Summary
Interior Health is seeking applicants for an exciting new opportunity as a Health Care Support Worker or Mental Health Substance Use Worker! If you are interested in an opportunity to provide patient-centred care, then this opportunity may be for you!

This is a fully funded training pathway toward becoming a Health Care Assistant or MHSU Worker through an accredited post-secondary Health Care Assistant/ MHSU program. Not only is the tuition fully funded but you receive a wage while you go to school!

Applicants are hired to start their education in a Health Care Assistant or MHSU training program at a partnering post-secondary institution. The training program will be delivered over the course of 12-18 months.

Once the program is completed the candidate will complete a ‘Transition to Practice’ education module. Upon completion, candidates are expected to complete a paid one year return of service with Interior Health.

Qualfications
• If English is your first language you must have successfully completed of English 10 or equivalency
• If English is not your first language, you must have a valid English competency test completed within the last 2 years, and your results must match the requirement of the educational program
Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
• Clear Criminal Record Check
• Valid Class V BC Driver’s License (for Home Support only)

HCA/CHW:
Completion of Grade 10, including the successful completion of English 10, or equivalency;
• No prior completion of an HCA training program in BC;
• Not currently employed in an HCA role in a private or public facility

MHSU:
•Successful completion of Grade 12 (or equivalent) or academic mature student category;
•A minimum of 60% (Grade C) in English 12 (or equivalent);
