Position Summary
We are currently seeking a permanent full time Community Mental Health Worker 1 to join our Mental Health (MH) team at the Salmon Arm Health Centre in Salmon Arm, B.C. (This is not at home support position).

We are seeking a compassionate, client-centered professional who is committed to supporting individuals with severe mental illness and/or substance use disorders to live successfully and independently in the community. The ideal candidate brings strong interpersonal and communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively within an integrated multidisciplinary Mental Health & Substance Use team.
The successful candidate is comfortable working within a psychosocial rehabilitation and harm reduction framework, and excel at building trusting relationships while empowering clients to develop life skills, enhance wellness, and access community resources. A proactive and adaptable approach, combined with strong organizational skills and a commitment to continuous learning and quality improvement, will support success in this role.

What will you work on?
The Community Mental Health Worker 1 functions as part of an integrated multidisciplinary Mental Health & Substance Use (MHSU) Team and performs a variety of life skills and general support duties involving clients who are living in their own housing. Reporting to the HCIS Manager or designate, and in accordance with established treatment plans, this position provides services within a psychosocial rehabilitation and harm reduction framework for the assigned client population(s) with severe mental illnesses and/or substance use disorders.
This position also provides support to clients in the development and maintenance of the skills required to live successfully in their own homes. The Community Mental Health Worker 1 is expected to engage clients in various community settings as people with full potential and as meaningful collaborators in their own service planning, delivery and evaluation.
Scheduling Information:
Shifts times are from 08:30 to 16:30, 13:00 to 21:00 hours. Shift types are days and evenings.

Qualfications
Education, Training and Experience:
• Grade 12
• Certificate in a field relevant to the position (such as, Community Mental Health Certificate, Human Service Worker Certificate, Social Services Worker Certificate, etc.)
• One year recent related experience working with the assigned client population(s) experiencing mental health and/or substance use problems; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Food Safe certificate required.
• Current valid B.C. Driver’s License (Class 5).
