About The Opportunity
This one-year maternity leave contract offers an excellent opportunity to step into a vital role within the Environmental and Regulatory Practice Group. The successful Legal Assistant will coordinate workflow, support daily operations, and contribute to high-level client service. This position provides exposure to complex legal work, opportunities to develop advanced administrative skills, and the chance to be part of a cohesive and high-performing national team.
About The Position
Working closely with lawyers, administrative teams, and the department’s Team Leader, the Legal Assistant will manage legal administrative workflows, coordinate document production, maintain files and records, and serve as a central communication point for internal and external stakeholders. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong multitasking abilities, and the ability to anticipate the needs of a busy litigation practice.
The Requirements
Must-Haves
- LAA Certificate from an accredited program
- Willingness to work in office full time
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar legal administrative or litigation support role
Technical & Role Requirements
- 3-5 years of solid Civil Litigation experience, including Rules of Civil Procedure and assembling court documents (Environmental and Regulatory experience an asset)
- Accurate typing speed of approximately 60 wpm
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and legal research tools
- Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines
- Ability to take initiative, think ahead, and remain adaptable
- LawPro, ACL, and iManage experience considered an asset
- Sound understanding of legal support services
- A desire to continue enhancing personal skills and contributing to a high-performance team
Nice to Haves
- Previous Environmental and Regulatory litigation experience
- E-billing experience
- CRM or client-data management experience
Compensation
- Salary range: $50,000-$70,000 based on experience
