A national law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support the bankruptcy and insolvency practice group in their Vancouver office. This position requires the successful candidate to work in the office 5 days per week in downtown Vancouver.

About the Opportunity
The successful candidate will provide critical support to lawyers handling bankruptcy and insolvency matters, contributing to the smooth operation of files and client service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, format, and proofread legal correspondence and documents, including pleadings, affidavits, and court forms
  • File legal documents in compliance with British Columbia court procedures and deadlines
  • Assist with trial and hearing preparation, including compiling briefs and organising exhibits
  • Perform a range of administrative tasks such as file opening/closing, billing, account follow-up, copying, and scanning
  • Manage calendars, coordinate meetings, schedule hearings, and monitor key deadlines
  • Maintain organised digital filing systems with exceptional attention to detail

Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognised Legal Assistant program or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in litigation support within a BC legal environment
  • Previous experience or knowledge in bankruptcy and insolvency law is strongly preferred
  • Solid understanding of BC Supreme Court Civil Rules and litigation procedures
  • Strong ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong proofreading and grammar abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal document management systems
  • Highly organised with a client-focused mindset and the ability to work independently

Compensation

  • $65,000 - $75,000 salary, dependent on experience
