We’re currently hiring an Accounting Manager / Senior Accountant on behalf of a well-established CPA firm based in Surrey, BC. About the Opportunity
As an Accounting Manager, you’ll play a key leadership role within the firm - overseeing engagements, reviewing complex files, mentoring staff, and working directly with partners on strategic initiatives. You’ll also maintain direct client relationships and contribute to business development efforts, making this an ideal position for someone looking to grow into a future partnership role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review compilation and review engagement financial statements with supporting working papers.
  • Prepare and review corporate, personal, trust, and partnership tax returns (T1, T2, T3, T5013).
  • Oversee and review bookkeeping, payroll, and statutory filings for multiple clients.
  • Conduct tax research and draft technical memos and correspondence for clients and CRA.
  • Support and advise clients during CRA audits or disputes.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train a team of 2-3 junior/intermediate staff.
  • Manage time budgets for all client files, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
  • Participate in business development activities and maintain long-term client relationships.
  • Provide exceptional service while contributing to firm-wide growth and leadership initiatives.

The Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of Canadian public practice experience with consistent career progression.
  • Strong technical knowledge in bookkeeping, compilations, and review engagements.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience supervising and mentoring staff.
  • Ability to independently prepare and review complex corporate and personal tax returns.
  • Proficiency with CaseWare, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Excel/Word.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accountability, and client service focus.
  • Steady work history and interest in long-term career growth within the firm.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • CPA designation (or near completion).
  • Experience working with construction, land development, or high-net-worth clients.
  • Background in small-to-mid-sized public practice firms (no Big 4 experience preferred).
  • Business development experience or interest in expanding client relationships.
  • Long-term interest in leadership - partnership potential within 3-5 years.

Compensation & Perks

  • Salary: $90,000 - $110,000 (flexible for exceptional candidates).
  • Vacation: 3 weeks (negotiable).
