The University Co‑op Student will provide technical and analytical support to the Operating Assessment and Technical Support (OATS) team within the System Operations Division. The OATS team supports Distribution Operations by providing real‑time operating engineering support and performing operating assessment studies using the Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS).

The role supports the safe and reliable operation of ADMS applications through data analysis, validation, auditing tools, software testing, documentation, and day‑to‑day operational assistance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the safe and reliable operation of the Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) and its power system applications.
  • Assist in the validation of ADMS power applications to ensure operational accuracy and reliability.
  • Perform data analysis and assist in developing auditing and validation tools.
  • Support software testing activities, including test execution, issue tracking, and documentation.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of computer applications supporting departmental systems and records, collaborating with internal and external OT services as required.
  • Support SharePoint Dashboard monitoring, maintenance, and content updates.
  • Assist with the entry, extraction, and manipulation of data across multiple applications using computer and programming skills.
  • Provide support for the development of operating instructions, job aids, and technical reports.
  • Utilize Hydro One information systems such as PCMIS, InfoBase, GIS, CRIS, ORMS, and other relevant operational tools.
  • Assist in preparing weekly and monthly operational reports related to performance, productivity, and control activities.
  • Support the preparation and participation in formal meetings and presentations, as required.

Education & Experience

  • Currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering undergraduate program.
  • Completion of third (3rd) year of study is required.
  • Previous exposure to power systems, data analysis, or software tools is considered an asset.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, time‑sensitive environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; programming or data‑analysis skills are an asset.

Learning & Development Opportunities

  • Exposure to the Hydro One distribution system and operating practices.
  • Hands‑on experience with ADMS, used to operate and control the medium‑voltage distribution network.
  • Development of time management, decision‑making, and professional communication skills.
  • Experience working within a real‑time system operations environment.

The base salary for this role considers a variety of factors, including candidates' knowledge, skills, experience, education, and any applicable collective agreement requirements for union-represented positions.
