NOTICE OF VACANCY
POSITION: Program Support Assistant (Summer Student position)
West Perth Village (Ritz Lutheran Villa)
Temporary Full-time
POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the Program Support long term care programs and services in accordance with West Perth Village Mission, Vision, and Values statements. The Program Support Student facilitates and evaluates large, small and individual programs to meet the residents various intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual needs. Participating in orientation of new residents, and observing and reporting on resident concerns are regular responsibilities.
REPORTS TO: Director, Program Support
DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
• Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
• Enrolled in either recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or other related field from a community college or university is an asset
• Experience working in a long term care setting is an asset or demonstrated experience in program planning with the elderly/frail/disabled population
• First aid and CPR training.
Responsibilities
• Facilitate large, small, and individual programs including set-up and take down of equipment and seating
• Ensure the well-being and safety of residents in programs;
• Assists in the orientation of new residents;
• Observes and reports on resident concerns and assessments;
• Assist residents on program outings;
• Use and storage of department equipment in delivering programs;
• Participate in team review of resident care conferences;
• Publish/create/maintain monthly program calendars, posters, decorations, flyers, etc;
• Care and feeding of all West Perth Village pets;
• Other duties as assigned.
Abilities:
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written and strong computer skills;
• Strong computer skills;
• Ability to adapt to changing environment;
• Good Interpersonal Skills
• Good physical condition to be able to meet the working conditions listed in this job description
