ROLE

As part of the Human Resources team, the Human Resources Assistant will provide effective and efficient administrative and receptionist support to the Human Resources department. In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for responding to inquiries from staff and external contacts, and providing assistance to leaders in regards to Human Resources processes as appropriate. The Assistant will primarily assist with recruitment and retention related activities, but will also be responsible for tasks within Compensation, Learning & Development, Student Engagement, Volunteer Services, and Labour Relations. They will work with a variety of software applications for data entry, file maintenance, and special projects.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)

  • College diploma or University degree from a Human Resources program or a 2-3 year Community College Secretarial/Business program

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)

  • A minimum of 5 years recent, related and progressive experience in a demanding, highly computerized office environment
  • Highly developed level of maturity as demonstrated by sound decision-making skills, excellent judgement and assessment skills
  • Strong command of the English language - both written and verbal
  • Excellent keyboarding and computer skills: proficient in Word-processing, Spreadsheet and Graphics software packages
  • Highly developed ability to organize and prioritize within a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to commit to a highly confidential environment.

DESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE(S) & EDUCATION

  • A minimum of 1 year of Human Resources experience an asset
  • Knowledge of Human Resources Information Systems is preferred
