Job Description

The Mental Health Social Worker will provide client-driven health and social case management assistance to children and youth in the community of La Ronge and those clients attending the La Ronge Health Centre to achieve safe and reasonable goals that will optimize clients' health and wellness and improve their quality of life. The Mental Health Social Worker works in collaboration with clients, their families and community and government agencies, and works closely with the Mental and Addictions teams in La Ronge. The Mental Health Social Worker also acts as a resource to and supports the development of community and interagency initiatives as they pertain to their mandate. Qualifications: - Degree in Social Work is required - Membership with Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW) - Possession of a valid driver's licence

  • Knowledge of mental health treatment resources and the skills to make appropriate assessments and referrals

  • Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement. HSAS seniority within the Saskatchewan Health Authority will be considered under the Selection Criteria.

Additional Information

Additional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Specific understanding of child and youth mental health issues is required - A wide range of counselling skills are required in working with children, youth and their families - Knowledge of crisis intervention strategies - Knowledge of child and youth treatment programming is required as well as the skill to develop /evaluate these programs consistent with latest research (Best Practices ) - A willingness to integrate child and youth mental health programming at a community level utilizing a variety of community partners Relocation Assistance of up to a maximum of $3,000 for a 1 year return for service. Other Northern Incentives as per HSAS Collective Agreement are prorated: - Special Northern Leave after one (1) year of service - Annual Retention Payment - Biweekly Northern Allowance The successful candidate is responsible to obtain and provide an original Criminal Record Check (CRC) & Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) from their local police service, RCMP or previous country/countries of residence that is dated within the past six (6) months that is satisfactory to the Saskatchewan Health Authority.
