Job Description: Operating in a complex and dynamic healthcare environment, the Scientist will have specific accountabilities which are aligned to that of the portfolio to support the achievement of the portfolio’s functions, responsibilities and accountabilities. This position will provide critical support for clinical diagnostic Newborn Screening and Metabolic laboratory testing in the SHA Department of Laboratory Medicine. This position will lead validations and verifications of both commercial and lab-developed tests to meet clinical laboratory accreditation standards. They will write and review laboratory protocols, guide quality control and quality assurance activities, and help trouble-shoot issues with assays or instrumentation in the lab.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a laboratory setting using Tandem mass spectrometry

Education

  • PhD degree in Chemistry or related science

Other Education and Training

  • Experience developing or validating LC-MS/MS tests will be a benefit
  • Familiarity with Newborn Screening guidelines and recommendations will be an asset
