Job description:
Under the direction of a Program Manager and as a member of an interdisciplinary team, the Masters Psychologist provides a range of screening, triage, assessment, treatment and case coordination services in the community to a primarily child and youth mental health and addiction population. HSAS seniority within the Saskatchewan Health Authority will be considered under the Selection Criteria.

Education
- Recognized Master’s Degree in Psychology is required.
Experience
- Requires a minimum of one year (postgraduate) recent recognized clinical experience in a community mental health setting working with children, youth and families presenting with acute and chronic mental health and addiction problems.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrates:
- Extensive knowledge of normal child and adolescent and young adult development and psychopathology.
- Comprehensive knowledge of best practice or empirically based models for the range of childhood mental health disorders.
- Knowledge of and experience utilizing standardized psychometric instruments and a wide range of measures typically used with children and youth.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, implement and evaluate areas of client difficulty across a wide range of clinical presentation and formulate evidence based intervention.
- Knowledge of the diversity of cultures, values and traditions and their impact on accessing mental health services and assessment.
- Knowledge and demonstrated application of a variety of intervention strategies (individual and group) for children/youth with mental health and addiction problems in a community setting, including, but not limited to: assessment, triage, treatment and case management.
- Ability and professional maturity to develop and maintain relationships within a multidisciplinary team, interagency programs and across the community of human services.
- Solid consultation skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with community partners and possess a broad knowledge of community resources including treatment programs and support agencies.
- Ability to provide public education regarding children and youth and mental health concerns.
- Ability to design, initiate and conduct in service training for other professionals.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary mental health and addiction team.
- Demonstrated ability to engage in community program consultation and resource development within the community.
- Ability to manage a complex caseload with multiple demands.
- Knowledge of mentoring principles and ability to provide supervision to students and peer consultation to a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge and practical application of the Mental Health Services Act and Health Information Protection Act and other legislation that impacts the work of clinicians in a mental health and addiction setting.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal). Ability to document and complete psychological reports in a concise and timely manner.
- Excellent interpersonal competence including effective problem solving and conflict resolution skills, and an ability to respond under pressure.
- Ability to enter and retrieve data in computer database systems.
