Job Description

Working within a small multidisciplinary therapies team, the Occupational Therapist (OT) will provide enhanced therapeutic programming for pediatrics and rehabilitation of patients of all ages. The incumbent will deliver OT services through a combination of direct service, community resource development and education during the implementation of subsequent interventions. Duties include: case management, OT assessments, consultations, equipment acquisition and direct therapy to clients. The OT will provide professional leadership in the development and delivery of clinical services, evaluation, and consultation with various programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Eligibility for registration with the Saskatchewan Society of Occupational Therapists and the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists

Experience
- Training in assessment and treatment models appropriate to those affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnoses is desired. - Clinical experience with a pediatric population is desired. - Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnoses is desired.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to be innovative and creative

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organizational skills to maintain clinic and administrative responsibilities
  • Travel is required.

  • Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement. HSAS seniority within the Saskatchewan Health Authority will be considered under the Selection Criteria.

Additional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - An understanding of ASD and its impact from a child/family development perspective. - Knowledge and clear understanding of OT evidence-based therapies and the ability to assess and deliver appropriate treatment services. - Able to provide consultations and to establish and maintain positive work relationships with clients/families, co-workers, care providers, schools, community groups and agencies. - Able to cope well with sustained, work related emotional pressure. - Possess skills and abilities in a Microsoft Office environment.
