Job Description: Ensures the highest standard of care and services provided to the patients. Provides leadership and direction along with the manager for ensuring the efficient and effective use of human and fiscal resources by applying sound administrative techniques, principles and practice. Direct authority to organize, direct, coordinate and supervise the work of the specific clinical area including the Clinical Care Coordinator in order to achieve the provision of quality patient care. Coordinates and supervises care delivery, clinical guidance and development of all staff in the designated clinical unit. Works with other departments in developing new programs and work on discharge planning. Also works closely with the Manager of the unit in program development, and the development of policies and procedures to ensure a consistent approach.

Education

  • Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing
  • Health Care Management Certificate or equivalent preferred
  • Master Degree in Health Services Field preferred

Experience

  • Five years experience with Mental Health Inpatient and Rehabilitation Services
  • Two  years management/ supervisory experience in a mental health environment 

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Commitment to a diverse, culturally competent, culturally safe work environment
  • Knowledge in developing policies, procedures and standards
  • Knowledge in budgetary process
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills and application of judgment
  • Manage labour relations
