Job Description: As a member of Youth Mental Health & Addiction Services, the Community Mental Health Nurse is an integral member of the Child &Youth Community Recovery Team. This position supports youth in the residential facilities such as EGADZ and works with psychiatrists and other mental health and addiction professionals to promote youth recovery and stabilization. Responsibilities include the use of assessment tools, screening, crisis intervention, medical case management, medication administration, health teaching and navigating health care services.

Experience
- 2 years of direct clinical experience in a mental health and addictions setting
Education
- Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing (BPN)
Licenses
- Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
Other Education and Training
- Psychiatric Nursing diploma is acceptable
- Bachelor of Nursing is acceptable
- Workplace Assessment & Violence Education (WAVE)
- Nursing diploma is acceptable

Knowledge and Abilities
- Knowledge of the Youth Detox and Stabilization Act
- Knowledge of MHAIS
- Knowledge in applicable health promotion and health prevention initiatives
- Knowledge in mental health/illness impacts related to children and adolescents
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge of trauma informed practice
- Knowledge of addictions screening and assessment tools and procedures
- Initiative & judgment to plan implement/modify treatment programs for clients
- Knowledge in nursing process
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Services Act and Family Services Act
- Knowledge of the EMR program is preferred.
- Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Knowledge of MHA theory and impact of MHA/ substance use across the lifespan
- Ability to be flexible and willing to change
