Job Description: The Emergency Nurse Clinician collaborates with the Charge Nurse, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient flow, reduce length of stay, and facilitate safe discharges, transfers, and admissions. The role involves identifying and liaising with the appropriate parties to assist in coordinating tests, procedures, transportation, community supports, bed placements, and address barriers to care. The Nurse Clinician also supports admission initiatives, monitors patient status and documentation, and assists nursing staff with clinical operational needs to promote efficient, patient-centered care

Experience

  • 5 years recent full-time experience in emergency nursing required.

Education

  • Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Nursing
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor Certificate

Licenses

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • CNA Certification in clinical practice area
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)

Other Education and Training

  • Nursing diploma is acceptable

  • NOTE: This is a Provincial Posting and is open to all SUN members within the bargaining unit as per Articles 27.02 and 27.05 of the SUN Collective Bargaining Agreement. First preference will be given to employees of the SKHA (Saskatoon) and its affiliated agencies.
  • Knowledge of and experience in quality assurance initiatives.
  • Knowledge of current trends, issues and perspectives of Nursing in Emergency.
  • Knowledge of the role of Emergency services within the entire health system. Critical care experience will be considered. Postgraduate course in Emergency Nursing is preferred. PALS Instructor or TNCC certification preferred, but not required. Those possessing one or more are encouraged to apply. The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) requires a criminal record check (CRC) from every potential SHA team member. The CRC must be dated within the past six (6) months and be satisfactory to the SHA. A vulnerable sector check (VSC) is required for individuals providing patient/resident/client care to vulnerable persons.
