Job Description: The Manager, Stewardship & Appropriateness, will provide Pharmacy Practice leadership and support necessary to ensure the provision of contemporary stewardship and appropriateness practice to ensure the optimal use of medications through practice, policy development and maintenance and medication evaluation within the SHA as well as medication safety practices within the SHA .  The incumbent is responsible for hiring, development and coordination of Stewardship, Appropriateness and Medication Safety within the Saskatchewan Health Authority. Direct reports include Stewardship and Medication Safety Pharmacists and Nurses.  Matrix reporting may be required for analysts. Contacts include Physicians, staff at all levels of the organization, Sask College of Pharmacy Professionals, Ministry of Health, Drug Plan and Extended Benefits, Sask Cancer Foundation, University of Saskatchewan College of Pharmacy and Nutrition and College of Medicine, Research Services, Quality and Safety and relevant community groups and agencies. Committee work includes: - SHA DTC Subcommittees - SHA Research Ethics Board - SHA Pharmacy Committees - SHA Provincial Residency Advisory Committee - Cross functional committees with Provincial Outpatient Practice and Clinical Practice Regina and Saskatoon as well as Pharmacy Operations North and Pharmacy Operations South Major Challenges include: - establishing collaborative working relationships and partnerships with multidisciplinary team members across a variety of medical and surgical practices within the SHA.  Ensuring efficacy, safety and stewardship of medications within the SHA.  Establishing and maintaining provincial pharmacist prescribing protocols.

Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in healthcare leadership
  • Experience as a leader who has developed and led innovative planning
  • Leader who has developed planning and programs in multi-stakeholder environment

Education

  • Clinical Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD)

Licenses

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license

Other Education and Training

  •  
  • Undergraduate degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Licensed, and in good standing, with regulatory body, if applicable
  • Accredited Pharmacy Residency Certificate (ACPR)
