Job Description: Provides infection, prevention and control related services by maintaining an effective Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) program, providing training and education related to infection prevention and control and infectious diseases and consulting on matters related to infection prevention and control within area and externally as an expert resource. Participates in quality improvement or research activities with IPC team, departments and groups within area. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

Education

  • Degree in Nursing/relevant Health Sciences Degree acceptable to the Employer

Licenses

  • Infection Control Certificate (CIC)
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Proficient in the operation of word processing, spreadsheet and power point
  • Knowledge of infectious diseases
  • Knowledge of & able to utilize, principles of program development & teaching
  • Demonstrates effective leadership and management skills
  • Works independently, effectively and cooperatively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to communicate components of infection control to staff and patients
  • Knowledge to identify, investigate & control outbreaks of infectious diseases
  • Possesses knowledge of and has job related experience in health care
  • Knowledge in epidemiologic principles, statistics and microbiology
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
