Job Description: The Director of Care (DOC) is an out-of-scope (OOS) leadership position within the Saskatchewan healthcare system, accountable for the administration and delivery of quality patient/resident care and services.

Key Responsibilities
- The Director of Care manages and leads the nursing or continuing care departments, often in partnership with an administrator or executive director.

- Budgeting & Fiscal Responsibility: Assist in budget review for the department and ensure the facility meets financial requirements.
Education
- A degree or certificate in a health care, human service-related field, or business administration is typically required.
Experience
- Relevant leadership experience as an organizational leader in a healthcare setting is essential, often in a complex, unionized environment.
Competencies
- Demonstrated strong leadership ability, including inspiring others, guiding change, promoting accountability, and a commitment to patient- and family-centered care.
Knowledge and Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of current nursing practice, public health programs, health economics, applicable legislation, and quality assurance processes.
