Job Description: The MLTC Health & Social Development Department is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse (RN) to fill the full-time, permanent position of Community Health Nursing Supervisor.
The MLTC Community Nursing Program contributes to the MLFN’s and MLTC health vision by being involved in planning, implementing and evaluating health activities associated with Community Health Nursing Services (health promotion, prevention of illness, injury and disability, health protection, health surveillance, population health assessment, rehabilitative and palliative), through home care, primary care nursing and various other need-based programs in the community.
The Community Health Nursing Supervisor provides program support to the mandatory public health programs of immunization and communicable disease control in all nine Meadow Lake First Nations and provides ongoing assessment, monitoring and evaluation of individual community health/public health nurse’s practice in the four MLFN’s that do not have primary care nursing. This is to ensure that the MLFN nurse employees are applying their unique community nursing knowledge, skill and ability in meeting the health priorities of the community.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
- Combination of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in Nursing; Supervision; and First Nation Health Management/Administration.
Licenses
Registered or eligible for registration with College of Registered Nurses (CRNS).
Knowledge and Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal, time-management, and organizational skills; strong supervision/management skills; excellent communication (written/verbal) and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently, and within a multidisciplinary health team.
Demonstrated proficiency in computer software/hardware applications and programs.
Will be knowledgeable and sensitive to First Nations’ culture and beliefs; issues and barriers.
Ability to fluently speak and understand Cree/Dene is considered a valuable asset.
Ability to travel extensively and possession of a valid driver’s license.
Proficient with computers, i.e., Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
