Job Description: Reporting to the Director, Media Relations and Issues Management, the Communications Specialist is responsible for creating and implementing communication strategies that directly impact how the Saskatchewan Health Authority communicates key initiatives, internally and externally, to diverse stakeholders including employees, physicians, patients, health system and union partners, government, and the public. The Specialist uses best-practice tools and corporate channels to communicate projects related to-but not limited to-labour relations/disruptions, privacy, policy, safety in an ever-changing and complex environment.

Experience
- Demonstrated experience with complex issues analysis and management
- 3-5 years’ experience in media relations and/or communications
Other Education and Training
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in journalism, Communication or Public Relations
- Licensed, and in good standing, with regulatory body, if applicable

- This is a provincial role responsible for creating and implementing internal and external communication strategies that directly impact the SHA’s reputation, credibility, and audience engagement. The Specialist provides sound advice to SHA leaders and acts as Community Engagement and Communication’s resident expert within an assigned portfolio. The Specialist will research, plan, develop, and implement communication tactics using a comprehensive understanding of strategies, practices, and audiences. The Specialist fosters collaborative relationships with key partners, supports staff education on communications-related matters, and participates in the after-hours on-call rotation for emerging issues and crisis events.
