Job Description:

In accordance with the mission, vision, and values of the SHA and Mental Health and Addictions services, the incumbent is accountable for provision of direct clinical mental health and addiction services to children, youth, adults and their families. These services will include individual, group and family counseling, case management, and public education/consultation. The incumbent shall function within the practice principles of the Mental Health and Addictions Services’ program management model and is accountable for clinical leadership in the Child and Youth services area. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

Education:
  • Degree in Human Services (Social Work, Psychology, Registered Nurse)

Experience:
  • Minimum five years of experience in the area of mental health/addiction services
Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Ability to distinguish normal and abnormal emotional behavioral functioning. 
  • Knowledge of protocols and Legislation that related addictions and mental health
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Knowledge in clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment
  • Ability to develop, lead and maintain family-centered, integrated case teams
  • Ability to cope effectively with stress, change, and diversity
  • Sound knowledge of developmental and systems theory.

  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to initiate, plan and conduct treatment groups or education
  • Ability to design and provide in-service training to other professionals
  • Knowledge of cross-cultural issues and cultural sensitivity

  • Demonstrated skill in maintaining files and records
  • Ability to distinguish developmental, personality and behavioral functioning.
  • Ability to refer to, network, and work cooperatively with community agencies
  • Knowledge in treatment modalities for children, youth and their families
  • Knowledge in evidence-based models of treatment intervention and application
  • Provide consultation services to staff and other agencies.
  • Demonstrated successful supervision of staff

  • Demonstrated ability in program development, implementation and evaluation
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Sound knowledge of mental health and addictions theory.
