Job Description: The Assessor Coordinator Degree Senior works as a member and the team lead of a multi-disciplinary team. The incumbent will provide clinical supervision and leadership to interdisciplinary regulated/unregulated team members. The incumbent will be responsible for assessment, determination of presenting issue, case management, crisis intervention, clinical consultation, education and referral services for clients and their families as appropriate, representing the streams of service delivery: addiction, mental health and concurrent addiction and mental health issues. The incumbent will participate in addiction and mental health prevention/promotion activities and contribution to the establishment and maintenance of addiction and mental health resources in the community. The incumbent will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders to provide a continuum of recovery oriented services to clients accessing community Addiction and Mental Health services.
- Min. 2 years of experience in a Mental Health and Addiction setting is required.
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Human Services (BSHS)
Licenses
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
- Communication skills
- Interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others as required
- Knowledge of psychopathology and the family life cycle and systems theory.
- Initiative in organizing work in accordance with departmental procedures
- Ability to adapt to changing conditions
- Ability to formulate referral plans and requests
- Knowledge of how mental health impacts the individual, community and families
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to teach & train a variety of users in workshop and individual sessions
- Knowledge of local human service organizations, resources & referral procedures
- Knowledge in mental health/mental illness impact on client, family and community
- Knowledge of how addictions impacts the individual, community and families
- Knowledge of mental health and mental illness issues in a variety of settings
- Knowledge of human growth, development and human behavior.
- Ability to make decisions in accordance with policies/procedures of SHA/MHAS/ED
- Demonstrated knowledge in the area of adult assessment and intervention
- Ability to prioritize to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure
- Ability to plan/organize/coordinate with other multidisciplinary team members
- Strong knowledge of Mental Health Services Act
- Ability to clearly articulate assessment findings
