Job Description: As a member of the Interdisciplinary Team, and under the general direction of the Addictions Counsellor - Degree (Alcohol & Addictions Services Worker), the primary goal will be to restore, maintain and enhance the recovery of people seeking help for addiction and/or addiction related issues by implementing various modalities of addiction recovery programs. Responsibilities include providing informational programming as well as individual and group counselling sessions with clients. Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement.

  • Chemical Dependency diploma

Licenses

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license

  • Completed social sciences or human services discipline acceptable to employer

  • Client-centered screening, assessment and recovery planning with adults/families

  • Knowledge of motivational interviewing
  • Knowledge in Developmental Model of Recovery
  • Ability to communicate with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Knowledge of substance abuse/ addictions issues and mental health issues
